Finance 495
TVA Investment Challenge

An opportunity to manage a $400,000 portfolio of common stocks on behalf of TVA.

Previously the only investment challenge available at UT was the Torch Funds, in which membership was limited to only MBA students.

The TVA Investment Challenge is a new fantastic opportunity for both finance and accounting undergraduate students.

Selection for the TVA fund is highly competitive.  If you are considering a career in finance or accounting, then you should consider applying for the challenge (in which course credit is given!).

Applications for the following semester are usually due before the last month of the current semester.

Bloomberg Basics
Software Training

Bloomberg offers the Essentials Online Training Program, in which students (in finance or in any other discipline) earn an acknowledgment in four market sectors.  Through the Masters Investment Learning Center (MILC), UT students can enroll in a proprietary version of this training program, called Bloomberg Basics.  At the culmination of the Bloomberg Basics program students will be Acknowledged in Equities, Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange and/or Commodities.

Over 300,000 Bloomberg terminals are used by investment professionals around the world.  Corporate recruiters are seeking candidates with competitive technical and financial technology skills.

Only students currently enrolled in University of Tennessee courses are eligible to participate in the Bloomberg Basics Training Program.  The training program costs $50 and includes access to proprietary videos, practice exercises, quizzes and exams, as well as access to Bloomberg itself.
