Join one of Haslam College of Business’s largest student organizations and gain real-world investing experience through hands-on Bloomberg training, trading competitions, and workshops designed to prepare you for the market. Open to all majors and all levels, with no prior experience required.

TIG MISSION
To empower students with real-world investing skills by combining financial research training, technical Bloomberg proficiency, and hands-on portfolio management in a collaborative, competitive learning environment.
Founded in Fall 2010, TIG has grown to over 600 members annually, making it one of the largest student organizations in the Haslam College of Business. Membership is open to undergraduate and graduate students of all majors.

WHAT WE OFFER
TIG equips students with practical investing experience through three core opportunities:
- Investment Insights Workshops – Monthly sessions focused on professional-level research and analysis using Bloomberg software. Learn how to analyze securities, interpret market data, and make informed investment decisions.
- Bloomberg Battle – A one-night, fast-paced challenge testing your ability to navigate the Bloomberg Terminal, conduct research under pressure, and interpret real-time financial data.
- Bloomberg Trading Challenge – A global, team-based competition where students use Bloomberg Terminals to develop market assumptions, construct investment strategies, and execute trades in a simulated portfolio environment. Compete against universities worldwide and gain experience that mirrors real-world portfolio management.
- Wolf of Wall Street Trading Competition – A semester-long simulation where you manage a virtual $100,000 portfolio of stocks, options, ETFs, crypto, and forex through Wall Street Survivor. Apply your research skills, develop trading strategies, and compete for cash prizes.
OUR HEADQUARTERS
TIG is based in the newly renovated Masters Investment Learning Center (MILC) in the Haslam College of Business. Look for the all-glass room with large TV screens on the 2nd floor near K Brew Coffee, closest to the Pedestrian Walkway entrance. When the privacy glass is transparent, push the main door to enter. Stop by during business hours with any questions.
